i bought new shoes today! nice pink and brown shoes for 29 bucks at far east, in the exact shades of pink and brown i love! - huiling, its from the same shop as u bought ur victorian-like shoes... haha except cheaper. what to say.. im cheapskate? hahaha. yeps happy! :) tho i really shldnt be spending money now cos not yet earning, and im saving so that when great s'pore sale comes ard i can shop again! haha. the best part i love about shopping is getting really nice stuff for really low prices. yeah which is y i nv act buy anything about $20 for clothes... like for eg. the skirt im wearing now cost me 17 from chaos, which i bought at 70% discount, original price $59.90! heh. get cheap stuff, can get lots more for the amt of $ you have, so u dun feel so guilty about spending hard earned $ on stuff, and well, its just the satisfaction you got a great bargain larh.

i always wondered about why do people blog-surf so much. the straits times has a weekly ( i think) listing of the top 5 blogs to visit this week, and a synopsis like a blurb about what the blog authors write about. so like i actually wonder if people i don't know, people whom i didnt give the url to, read what i write. its quite freaky really. cos then you have to be really cautious about what you write also. like the scholar who got screwed cos he posted so called racist comments on his blog. i bet he didnt even realise that other people were reading his blog! so he got screwed for writing in his 'diary' persay! so scary. so i must constantly be politically correct whilst letting my fingers run over the keyboard verbalising everything that goes through my brain. STRESS!
and have to even think about whether you're posting quality writing and thoughts, in case you're just adding more useless junk to the already-brimming internet wasteland. so in reality, blogging has no difference than standing up in public - speaker's corner perhaps, and saying all the rubbish you have to say. except you have the pseudo-security of typing it thinking that no one reads what you write anw. heh.

ryan from studio wu dyed his hair a platinum blonde today. from far he looks like a lao ah pek, but close up... hmm alright larh, considering he is actually quite good looking yeah. dance classes were fun! technique's a million crunches that made my tummy feel like it was going to burst, and lyrical jazz inter's really fun and relaxing routine! i danced like i nv thot i could dance today. and i can finaly do a double pirouette! thanks to ryan. albeit its still a little shaky but with practice.... *eyes glimmer* haha... i like e-ching, who took the classes... she's vv nice. the rest of the ppl in the class noe each other tho, i wish i knew them too. its hard to dance when u dunno anyone, yet easier cos u dun have the pressure of performing cos u screw up, these ppl also dunno u. heh. studio wu's fun. a place where old aunties and uncles can dance like youngsters, and u cant differentiate between an Alevel grad and a working person. when some of those ppl changed out of their cool dance gear into clothes to go home, totally cnanot recognise! haha. i think i will renew my subscription there. had more fun that i ever actually had in any dance session before... danced like i nv thot i cld before. tho im still not great, but its better larh yeah.

spent some time at raffles city mrt today whilst waiting for lawrence to appear, looking at the ppl walking by. working ppl dress so drably. the brightest colours i saw were pastels. otherwise everyone was in black or grey. gah. and im about to join the ranks of the drab working class ppl, caught in the rat race, in the chase for monetary wealth and job satisfaction, yet too poor to own a car or perhaps anything else. gah haha. i need a pair of covered heels. so far only got 1 pair of working shoes. act shld be enuff larh. see how if i come across any, cos i'll need in the long run also anw. yeah.

and im toying with the thought of working at rotiboy! hahah seems so fun. i love that bread. its so nice and comforting and loving. dunno y loving but it just is. sighs with contentment. hahaha.

oh and i realised yesterday upon meeting all the friends near and dear to me, that i have really neglected them. neglected to keep in touch with their lives, and to reinforce and upkeep the precious friendships that were formed. must must must endeavour to meet up with ppl now that nus is gonna finish and im going to start working. that's first thing to do on list after dance nite. haha yeah.

argh and i have a biochem final exam in 4hrs and i havent studied much apart from memorising beta oxidation, ketogenesis, conversion of ketone bodies to acetyl-CoA, citric cycle, glycolysis and glycogenesis. am so freakin screwed pls hahaha. but hais. heck larh.

u know how the apparent temporary absence of viruses on ur computer lulls you into this false sense of security that your computer is alright and defending itself v well? haha well its a farce. i think most of my frens wld know i was recently infected with a worm that made me keep sending parishilton again! with a link to all my msn contacts on line. yeah well then ran a few virus scans and system scans on my computer and boom! the computer is riddled with viruses and disease. now have to install a hell lot of security patches on your computer and do lots more stuff. hais.

oh and lawrence recommended mozilla firefox instead of internet explorer... tried it, and i actually like it alot! haha it has nice browser settings, you can even download themes (kinda works in the same principle as skins), and well the best part is that cos IE is more widely used, most of the horrible programs (trojans, spywares, etcetc) are written to target it! so its actually safer! haha. okay. now i have to brief my entire family on the switch to firefox :)

i still hate bitching hahaha... saus' blog has this link to a very interesting article on it. bitching for solidarity? haha i dunno. i just zonk out whenever it occurs anywhere near my vicinity.

hmmms. have decided to do away with blog titles. so unrepresentitive of the entry that comes after it.
slightly sianned out by the dancers, judging from what sel and hl said abt what they felt today. but yeah i guess it was my fault some ways, intended or unknowing, but i'd have thought they'd be that little bit more understanding about parents. maybe its just my parents who wld ban me from going for dance cos of other matters they regard as more urgent. or perhaps its just a combination of my parents and the fact that i cant really dance already.
ohwells.
thankyou em for talking to me and letting me vent abit.

nus med essay today was unexpected. gp essay-like topic, and well since i havent written an essay in ages - bio ones about plants and animals dun count, its really anyhow write larh. dunno. vv nice to meet everyone tho. haha mini rj batch gathering. almost everyone was there. practically saw my whole class there. even ppl whom i thot werent going to apply for med applied. haha yesh so it was really really fun! about 1 in 3 or 4 chance of getting in only. grrr. so competitive!

and seeing shuen off today. she flew to melbourne to stay kinda for good. or at least till she finishes uni. her parents have ahouse there and she's there to tutor her sis who skipped a year. will miss her... but she and her sis (who remembered me from photos shu took!) were so cartoon prior to going in and running to the gate! hahaha. felt so sad for dennis... he wunt see his gf for at least till nov. wonder if i'll be this sad when law goes to us next year too haha...
shuen if u read this, i miss you already!

i'm tireeeeeeeddd!

spent 7 consecutive hours shopping around singapore (around meaning - AROUND) for tiles,, lighting, bathroom and kitchen fixtures. argh. went to balestier (tiles, lights, nice boon tong kee restaurant), sime darby in bkt timah (nothing much there), sim siang choon in changi (bathroom stuff, kitchen sinks), and sims ave (bathroom stuff).

to the dancers who read this (i think only huiling does), sorry sorry i had to skip dance today. parents were adamant i did... recalls "the renovations already officially started and we havent even chosen all these, how do u expect anything to progress?" yeah then they were really pissed off cos i kept saying i had to go dance. so we reached an agreement - i skip dance today and settle everything with them, then i get to go dance uninterrupted in the following weeks leading up to dance nite.
btw, dance nite tickets are out. if anyone needs, just tell me k... $10, for 12, 13, 14 may. matinee on 14th, and night shows for all 3.

so anw, i chose a pink glass mosaic for my bathroom. bathroom's gonna be pink mosaic, white and aluminium and glass everything else and perhaps a blackish floor. i'm going contemporary! haha. had to preorder my mosaic from overseas. but its refreshing, so yeah haha.
the room next to mine, currently my uncle's room, is gonna be green-blue. so we chose a beautiful greenblue mosaic for his toilet, and our rooms will be matching! hahaha. mine's pink brown and his is green blue!

and a nice washbasin, that is a bowl, made of very thin plated metal and covered with a ceramic finish. pretty ex, but daddy says our contractor overcharged us (imagine $7500 for parents bathroom and $4500 each for the remaining 3 bathrooms in my hse!) so we shld be able to get good stuff and make the contractor work the whole thing in.
and i never knew how hard it was to choose a good toilet bowl. as in the cheap ones are super light and flimsy, like u sit on it feels like its gonna break liddat. esp me, since im so heavy. budden the good ones are so ex. hai. but a good toilet bowl is a good investment cos erm u spend alot alot of time on it? hahaha

and lights!!! my gosh i found a beautiful crystal drop light that's in the shape of FLOWERS! 6 crystal 5-petal flowers hang down from the ceiling at varying heights. available in egyptian crystal ($389) and swaroski crystal ($798) and another even more ex crystal that shone blue, which i din even dare ask the price for...
its really pretty and simple and elegant, tho its crystal like chandeliers liddat. i wish i had a picture i can put here. i kept staring and staring at it in the shop, which was essentially this designer light shop. beautiful lights at lumiere in balestier. pricey tho. and hmmmm hahah tempted to put in bedroom. but its SO EX. and well, a crystal lamp in a contemporary simple bedroom? hahaha... temptedness... its so me! haha.. but its ex and i shall be good and save cost for my parents. yes.

we did agree on a beautiful gold murano glass drop set of lights for the dining area tho... it was beautiful, like WOW beautiful haha. chose a chandelier initially, but after seeing this, we changed our minds. reminded me of an art showpiece really. cost about $1500 though. sigh.

i reinforced sthg i've known about myself for a long time alr... that i have expensive taste. haha or rather to put it nicely "an eye for good quality"? hahaha. yeah everything i choose inevitably is the more ex type. but then again, i'm stingy with money. more or less anw. so it doesnt quite work out. haha. i must live in agony most of the time right, cant buy most of the stuff i like cos its always do darn bloody ex.

ohwells. quite fun. but tiring. and if only i dint have to skip dance. ohwells.

daddy and mrt!

heh my dad took mrt today! wow. he NEVER takes public transport. and it was so funny! he kept calling me to ask which line to take. haha. and when he came home? he gave me 2 standard tickets to redeem the deposit for him. hahahaha. how funny. i just find it amusing that he went out of his comfort zone (very comfortable zone - mercedes) to take the train at peak hour.

anw, had the final 1103 biodiversity exam at nus today. i think open book exams are really fun and hilarious! =) hahaha. it was like essay questions focusing on one phyla of organisms eg. cnidarians, then flip to that particular chapter and start copying for all you're worth! haha i almost laughed out loud. so much nicer than those bio exams we used to take, had to mug and memorise like hell, and then regurgitate, and along the way surely forget some detail or another, then break out in cold sweat. haha. i LOVE open book exams. all i studied was where each section was in the textbook, and roughly recognise each grp of organisms. haha.

and well, renovations at my house officially began today. the contractor came to pray and symbolically knocked off a piece of wall. the real work will begin the following week. after my paper, cabbed to the contractor's office to select my room colour (he's going to specially mix the exact shade of brown for me!), and cupboard/shelf/table colour. etcetc. i quite like my new room colour scheme - dark brown, and white/cream. i want a pink-brown/grey mosaic on one wall in my toilet, but apparently pink isnt a popular colour cos i havent been able to find premixed mosaic tiles that tickle my fancy. ohwells. the rest of the house will hopefully turn out nice, gonna have a whole new kitchen! haha yeah. but actually apart from the bedrooms and the kitchens, there wont be much changes really to my house. most of the $ is going towards waterproofing and electrical rewiring. ohwells will update more on the works as it progresses.

dance nite dance nite! haha i bought new pointe shoes today, cost me almost $50. hais. so ex. for 4 performances in a few weeks time. but my old ones are really too soft alr, no support for my feet. broke broke broke. and i had to buy a new water bottle today cos my old metal one (that looks like a bomb or so my mum says) is rusted. i've been drinking rusty water! hahaha. sighs. poorness. my job must must start soon! i've been vvv tempted to buy shoes. but i absolutely refuse to spend more money haha. so far i've only been able to afford maybe $20 a week on shopping or savings. and this wk, overspent! esp since my cousin came and i was expected to take her around n eat nice things and all... sigh.
broke.

in love....

I'm officially in love.

with cheesecakes!

haha. what did you think it was? cheesecakes are like one of the few things in life you can really love (apart from really sweet bfs, nice loving parents, great friends etcetc) but cheesecakes really take the cake! haha. smooth, rich, creamy, happifying... come in so many flavours! one for every day of the month! haha... ate 2/3 just now, ie 3 of us (lawrence, jingxian my cousin n me!) shared 2 slices of cake from cheesecake cafe in east coast... got the strawberry oreo (with oreos sticking out of it!) and walnut one (with real walnuts!). i love the 3 in one that is available at coffeebean too! it contains the ny cheesecake, coffee cheesecake and oreo cheesecake in one cake! haha diff layers of each flavour that is...

the only drawback about them is that they're ultra fattening. but heck man. when you have a wonderful slice of cheesecake to dig into and share with friends (and with whom to debate over who to take the last piece of walnut - the one who makes the remnants of the cake with the walnut on it topple over first) its really heck care already larh.

that's it.
i'm so getting fat from too much good food.

ohwells. i offered to lick the plate just now even haha. cheesecake-deprived man. hahaha.
its way up there on my list of favourite foods with double vanilla tea latte from coffeebean!
too bad all the food i like are quite ex. these can set me back 5-6bucks each. gosh. im poor lor.
oh wait. bak chor mee, which i like alot alot too isnt so ex. that's fantastic news. haha...

god. im so gluttony. hahaha.

dunno what to say

dunno what i can say here... seems like everything i want to say is kinda whiny...
like do i want to whine about how i need $568 250 to study 6yrs in imperial? or how i've been grossly overeating lately? or how nus tests and exams are upon me and i havent gathered enough gall to study? haha
dunno?
*shrugs*
the easiest word to say ain't it?
everyone seems to be getting on with their life pretty well or so it seems... i miss the hustlebustle of school, where you meet your best friends every single day... now its just you and you alone. like YOU. and the REST OF THE WORLD. good luck. envision a little girl standing on a lone shore facing a harried city like nyc, in kinda a video game fashion. then ROUND ONE. and she starts running towards the city (that is the world) and gets lost in its myriad of happenings haha...
but its not so bad for me, i have to say im a lucky girl... for eg. unlike many others who have "absent boyfriends", mine is constantly present, and im so thankful for that. makes me feel so unlonely. and well, most ppl work 9-5 daily, i slack maybe 2 days a week.. relatively at least..
yeah.
im gonna miss shu en when she leaves for aust in 2wks time... for a long long time... miss talking to her everyday in school... persuading her to run, gaying around w her in our own ts right before the exams... etc. many close friends are going overseas... good for them, sad for me too haha...
and HMMM. i feel so detached from the dance ppl. no wonder i never really felt any oomph for rj dance... cos there're vv few ppl from our batch with whom i can connect properly even on a conversational basis. just sooo... different, on different frequencies and all.. well at least they dunt hate me. dancers can be so bitchy sometimes. ugh.. but the activity itself is still fun yes haha... fun fun fun!
k must dance more. burn all that extra calories that im ingesting haha..

imperial!

i guess emily made my announcement for me alr haha... yeah i got an offer from imperial... AABC offer. RELIEVED. like MAJOR RELIEVED. at least the flight to uk for the interview wasnt wasted and even though i have the dilemna of choosing between nus and imp and aust should i get them. yeah... at least i have a pretty good backup... goodness and they took majorly long in getting back to me. 1mth when they said they'd reply in 2wks. i thank whoever there who might have been fighting for me to get a place in case i was a borderline...

i need alot alot of $$$ now. haha if i want to go there. imperial's a beautiful place. as in okay fine not as nice as cambridge, not that kinda charm, but its in a beautiful part of london... and london is really really nice. but the bloody exchange rate is suicidal. argh.

cant bear knowing my parents are slogging so hard, whilst i spend their money like water (literally like water cos it just goes so fast, esp with the exchange rate...). i just cant do that. plus if i go there, i'll have no money for post grad alr. argh.
see how.

any advice?

ching ming jie...

went to msia over the wkend for cheng meng.. the tomb sweeping festival. interesting that i never really HAD to go and dint care whether i did, but this time around my parents totally dragged me along when i was dying NOT to go. so anw, had a lousy wkend. but i must really say the procedures at the cemetery is really quite interesting.

when you reach the tombstone ( we did 3, my grandfather, my 1st uncle, and a cousin of mine who died of leukemia when i was 4), which is in itself quite elaborate, cos its like a circular thingey demarcating the area which the coffin is buried, then there's the tablet with lotsa symbolic stuff, like my granddad's had 2 lotuses with blood running down them. scary eh. and tiles with pictures of nirvana... whatever that is. its always mountains, and water, and trees and flowers. then there's this entire area for us to stand on, and kneel to pray and whatever.

so when u reach there, you weed the area under which the coffin is buried. then u cover the ground over the coffin with colour paper... (wu se zi, 5 colour paper) and put little stones on them to prevent them from flying away. oh thing was that granddad's tombstone was those half half kind. half for him, when he died in 1986, with his name on it in red... then the other half for my granny who's still living with me... her name is painted on it too, but in gold to signify she havent died yet. gave me the shudders to be visiting my granny's "tombstone" when she's still living and well with me.

ok then you lay the offerings, fruits, their favourite food.. etc, tea... and stack the paper stuff - paper money, erm those paper goods like vcr and what not... at the side for burning. then you light a handful of josssticks... then each of us take 3, and kneel and pray to the dead person in order of our seniority in the family.. thing is if you're same generation as the deceased like the deceased's wife, then you dun have to kneel. and if you're older than the deceased, then you dun have to pray at all.

then light a bonfire to burn all the paper stuff.. the guys had a lot of fun with that. esp my 9yr old nephew. wah he was damn gung ho.
so anw. then you burn. then u light firecrackers and fireworks around the grave. so we went to forage for a long branch, and tied the entire string of firecrackers to it... then all us women and children ran far far away.. left my stupid little nephew who's practically shaking cos scared there with a lighter. he TRIES to light it, fails a few times, then finally does light the fuse, screams bloody hell and runs away as far as he can... then it went off. wah damn loud but quite exciting.. heh

yeah then you can clear off. leaving the colour paper there... which will rot and look like it was never there when you come back next year. budden with the colour paper you can roughly tell which grave had been visited and which hadnt and roughly gauge how long ago it was visited too heh.

and the place was super hot pls... madness. not a tree in sight. and you'd think a graveyard was a very fertile place, what with all the decomposition that takes place there... but there got no green trees. only damn alot of thistles that scratches your feet.

have i ever mentioned i have a younger brother? hahaha. not by birth, but so called recognised in the eyes of some buddhist god i have a younger brother. long long story. i know nothing about him, just his name. which isnt even really his name cos its more of a nickname. bleah hahaha.
my paternal family is huge, convoluted and messy.
