merry christmas!

i apologise for the dearth of posts lately. there're sooo many pictures to upload, but im fussy about doing them chronologically, and well, all my pictures are in the macbook pro (of which i returned the powerplug to lawrence -which was the stupidest thing in the world to do, and it has run out of batt, therefore i cant use it) and im currently blogging on my trusty lovely powerbook which has finally returned from its long trip to pittsburgh safely back to me, with the sole exception of an unsensitive shift key now. having used both models for an extended period of time now, i must really say that the powerbook is really significantly faster than the older macbook pro. especially when launching microsoft applications, and rousing it from sleep. but i digress.

christmas has been lovely so far.
a pre-xmas family dinner with lawrence and penang relatives at the brazillian along 6th ave. gorgeous food and company. followed by a hilarious karaoke session at the club. unfortunately i spent most of that session choosing 'simple songs' for them under the stressful insistence of my dad (how am i supposed to know what you older people know or listen to offhand?!).

xmas eve - lunch with lawrence and shuen at geylang's doujiangyoutiao place and durian after was fantastic. orchard road for last min xmas shopping was terrible. too crowded i say.

last night's xmas eve party with lawrence's extended family was great fun! good food, and great games. the caroling was nice as always (carolling's so nice, its sthg ive never gotten to do before, till last yr at his family's xmas eve party too). albeit feeling a little lost and lonely when he had to go make his rounds "hi, yes i reached home 3days ago... oh the states is not too bad, im coping alright... its fairly cold now yes..." yadda yadda, and do other family duties... but ive gotten to know some members of his family well enough to talk and chat, so i guess it was still okay.

today was okay-ish. frazzled as usual whenever there're alot of people in the house. i so do hate it when relatives are here. my oasis and haven of a home is turned into some noisy place and i turn into this manservant being called to do this and that constantly. therefore i always escape elsewhere. but today? it'd be rather sad to be in the medicine library on xmas day dont you think? so there was no other choice. my great plan to bake peach cupcakes with mascarpone frosting for all my friends was killed when the lady at cold storage told me that they were totally out of heavy cream. none whatsoever for the next few days. are people really eating that much cream in this holiday season? waistlines people! i had to sadly put back the gorgeous fresh australian white peaches i'd found and italian mascarpone cheese. bah. even my foray into mixing the chocolate cake for our xmas party tmr was dashed when there were not enough eggs in the house. not a good day i must say.

overall, its been heaven that he's back. lots of stuff on my mind though. ohwells.
lunch with the girls tmr, and then our wonderfulicious xmas party at mirri's! i cant wait!

ive diligently gotten my secret santa present. have you??
