pdp today was pretty fun =) A/P Cheong toally wowed us with his ability to ask "open" questions that would enable the patients to open up to him and tell him stuff... haha the bunch of us tried, and with some assistance frm prof, well managed to find out some pretty interesting clinical stuff from the patients, like abt lupus and diabetes, and dialysis... and when they talk abt living with these conditions for like 30years, i really feel lucky that im not suffering frm any right now... this lady was super optimistic abt her whole condition despite it being really qt pitiful. owells.

oh yeah and i fainted for the first time today too. in the middle of interviewing the optimistic strong old lady bleah. was standin there talking to her, then prof and jerry cut in with some qns and stuff the prof wanted to tell us. then for me, i started feeling giddy and nauseous... the world started to disappear in a wave of static before my eyes.. then like frm colour to greyscale to that "ghost" effect on tv where u only see shadows... and then black out... but all the time i think my eyes were open just that i prob looked like i zoned out... then i totally cldnt hear, like someone clamped sthg over my ears, and my legs felt wobbly and i was like shaking abit... grabbed the table behind me, and the person beside me (i think it was jianping)...then huising and jerry (who were opp me across frm the bed) suddenly interrupted the prof and said "huilin are u ok".. haha then the prof made me sit down. bleah. super paiseh. interview the patient scully become the patient. apparently i was super pale or sthg, but the colour returned.

bleah. low blood volume, plus low blood pressure, lack of O2 to the brain. resulting in syncope.

pdp was interesting. hehe... like trying to learn to think on ur feet whilst talking to the patient is really no mean feat. u can't ever lose the connection w ur patient or u're gone. bleah. haha..

and it was damn mean can... we were walking ard in our "formal" attire. guys wearing shirt and ties, girls, well just more formal. then some m3/4s walked by and said audibly "see those monkeys everywhere today". like huh... werent they once m1s excited abt their first hospital visit in the capacity of a medical student??? sighs. lack of empathy. fail communication. *beep*
