cg6 does venepuncture on friday =)

i've finally done venepuncture on a patient! =) thank you zhentang who gave zj and me patients to take blood from. i was nervous and my hands were trembling a little, and on the first attempt my needle went too shallow and i didnt hit the vein, partly cos the uncle's skin was very loose. zhentang taught me how to pull the skin taut properly so that the vein was easier to access and i managed to get the job done pretty smoothly, and collect the 4 tubes of blood that was needed. my patient was very cooperative too, and fortunately jerry was there to help me distract the uncle in cantonese. i cldnt have done that myself because i dont speak the dialect.

zj's attempt wasnt so smooth though, and they (aka zj n zt) had to try many many times, whilst i attempted to talk and distract the auntie in hokkien for quite awhile. but zhentang did say that this patient was very difficult to venepuncture. her veins kept collapsing.

after that, bent on overcoming the hurdle of doing their first venepuncture on a human, we got extra equipment from zhentang at the prep room and went off to the HO room to do it on each other! so by the end of the day, everyone got a chance to try =)
