cny eve :)

hmmm eve of cny...
gingko nuts... no they're seeds cos the gingko plant is a gymmosperm (gymmo = naked, spore = seed) so the "nuts" or in actual, seeds act hang from the stems of the tree! haha woohoo!
ok so anyhow, gingko seeds are fascinating to deshell. spent like an hour deshelling this humongous pack. goodness. i never ever gave much thought to eating them, cos like eat then eat lor. but so much work goes into prepping it for the stomach!
first you have to deshell it. so you take a pounder thing and knock on it and hope you dunt hit ur fingers. hit mine a few times alr. haha ouch.
then you remove the shell and be careful not to cut ur fingers. or spoil the soft insides that is...
then if you're lucky the next layer of membrane comes off together with the shell, or most of the time it doesnt, then you have to slowly peel that layer of membrane off whilst tryign not to deface the smooth yellow surface of the "flesh" below.
then u stick a blunt toothpick through the axis of the "flesh" to remove the strip of bitter thing that's really the embryo of the whole seed.
then u wash it and put it aside for cooking.
madness. haha. but its a skill, by the time i did like 10, i was damn enthu about it alr hahaha... cos like you try to produce smooth, uncrushed "fleshes" that look vv nice! yes.

so anyhow, not going to sleep tonight, cos its cny and there's this thing abt the later you sleep the longer your parents live. yes. ohwells. my parents must live long long right. so i cannot sleep.
angpows tmr morning! granny alr gave me one! hahaha. yayses.

and goodness there's so much food at home. half of it the neighbour behind give one. dunno y they give us so much food! hahaha but we're lucky. my daddy jokes that one of the 3 sons in the hse behind must be in love with me, so they give so much food. I'M SURE PLS hai hahahaha. stupid groundless baseless conjecture. but got really nice jam tarts and keropok. other than that, got the choc chip oatmeal cookies and the oatmeal raisin cinnamon cookies that i baked all by myself, the fruit cake that i mixed and maid baked, dragon beard candy, tons of chocs, nice nice bakkwa from both msia and s'pore, oranges galore, apple chips, choc tarts in the freezer, icecream and so much more food, not mentioning the 5 dvds i'll be watching this hol cos my uncle bought for my dad and me...

wah! going to grow fat alr. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. hahaha.
